We had a week full of presentations!
Students gave their Safety Research presentations, which turned out really amazing! We had some Google Slides presentations, skits, and songs. After researching about bike, train, ATV, scooter, bus, pedestrian, and car safety, students worked in groups on a project to teach their classmates. It was so fun how students made these projects their own.
In reading, we wrapped up our unit on myths! We learned about the difference between a cautionary tale and an explanatory tale. Students also learned about how many words we use today originated in Greek Mythology. They were each given a myth, and a word that was in that myth that we use today. They had to explain how they would define the word based on the text evidence in the story. They created presentations on these: see them below!

Here's where we compared the story of Narcissus to the Video Version!
We had a lot of time for Daily Five and Free Writing this week as I met with students to do their end of the year reading assessments! Ask your child what choices they made during reading, and what they have been working on.
During science this week, we talked about matter. We watched a great video called "Matter Chatter" that is on the "This Week's Link to Extend Learning" section of our website. This introduced many different examples and traits of solids, liquids, and gasses. Then, we talked about how scientists measure mass in grams and liters. We measured the mass of some objects and talked about how important it is to use a standard unit of measurement. Check us out below!
